GLASS TRANSPONDER PACKAGING

Glass is an ideal material for hermetically sealed packages because it provides a waterproof package for sensitive active and passive electronic components. If used near metal components, glass provides a high dielectric rating for electrical insulation.

Often used in radio frequency identification transponder, “RFID tags” or “Smart Chips” are a popular choice for low cost and automatic data collection. These devices may often appear in harsh environmental conditions such as living tissue where size and robustness are critical factors. Applications include:

Accu-Glass LLC has over 40 years of glass tube forming experience. As RFID electronics become smaller, Accu-Glass can reduce the size of the hermetically sealed package to lower costs and reduce space needed for the RFID device.

Accu-Glass has the unique capability of producing multiple geometric shapes that include round, square, rectangular and oval cross-section configurations. ID values can range from 0.5 mm and larger and OD values from 1 to 5mm to accommodate various sized transponders. Accu-Glass forms tubing from various compositions that are suitable for hermetic packaging applications.

Diamond saw and score-snap cutting technologies are used to achieve desired cut-length tolerances of ±0.003” & ±0.009”, respectively.
